Bing releases version 6.1 of their mobile app for iOS, bringing nice new and welcome features to the app.

bing-apple1-1920Bing has just released version 6.1 of their iOS app, which is now available as an update within the App Store. Version 6.1 brings several changes, including barcode scanning for price-comparison shopping, Uber integration, animated GIF support and other user experience changes and optimizations.

Price Comparison Barcode Scanner

When you are in a store and want to see if the store is selling the product for a good price, Bing will let you scan the barcode. Then Bing will compare the prices of that product at Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Macys and other stores that may have it for sale.

Here is what the scanner looks like:

Uber Integration

Like Google Maps and other mapping apps, Bing has added real-time data from Uber. When you tap “Get a ride” or the Uber app icon from within the app, it will show you Ubers available in the area. Here is a picture of the app icon within the Bing app:

Animated GIFs

Bing also added support for animated GIFs. So when you search for images, a GIF icon with a play button will show up on images that are animated GIFs. Here is a picture showing it in action:
